Chain event graphs, missing data and chronic disease mortality or morbidity

Outline:

Chain event graphs are a modern graphical method for modelling the path an individual takes. For example, a person with a chronic condition such as epilepsy or diabetes might be given a drug treatment initially. If the treatment does not work, the dose might be increased, or if there are side effects, the drug might be changed. Although a series of appointments with a doctor might be scheduled, some of these might be missed for reasons which might relate to the person's health. In this project, data from people with epilepsy will be studied using chain event graphs. Applying existing methods will determine which areas of methodological development are worth pursuing.
