Travel and Campus Information
Location and Campus information
The workshop will take place in room MS02 in the "Zeeman" Mathematics and Statistics Building, University of Warwick, Coventry, UK (Building No. 38 on the campus map). Accommodation booked through the workshop registration form is also located on campus.
You can locate rooms and find campus buildings using the following tools:
Important: Note that the University is not in the town of Warwick (which is about 8 miles away), and it is not the same as Coventry University (a different university located in the centre of Coventry). Taxi drivers at Coventry Station or Birmingham International Airport are generally aware of this, but it may be useful to give them the postcode CV4 7AL.
Coming by Car and Parking
Please refer to the guidance here for driving directions and here for parking (including parking map).
All workshop participants can park free of charge in Car Parks 7, 8, 8a or 15. Please refer to this map. Participants using car parks 7 or 15 will need to collect a blue token from the parking machines at the barrier and have it validated in either the Conference Reception (building no. 62 on the map) or at the information desk on the ground floor of the Rootes building (building no. 55 on the map).
Participants staying at Radcliffe (building no. 52 on the map). may use the parking there free of charge (to exit the car park please collect a token from Radcliffe reception).
Please note: The above are the only free-parking options on campus. Use of any other Car Park will be charged.
Coming by Rail or Coach
If you're coming by rail or coach/bus (e.g. National Express or Megabus), you should come to Coventry. You can then take a taxi or local bus to the university campus. More information on getting to the University of Warwick from Coventry or elswhere can be found here.
Coming by Air
- Coventry Airport, a short taxi-ride away (but not served by major airlines)
- Birmingham Airport. Recommended for international travellers. To get to the University from Birmingham airport either:
- (cheapest) take the train to Coventry (around £3.00-£5.00, 10-15 mins) and then local bus (around £2.00, 25 mins; exact fare must be paid to driver) or taxi (about £10-20, 15 mins) to the University of Warwick.
- (possibly slightly quicker, but expensive -- about £30-40 for the half-hour ride) take a taxi from the airport to the University of Warwick.
- London Heathrow Airport has many more flights, and is about 2 hours away from Coventry either by bus (National Express) or by rail (via London). The bus option is cheaper.
- London Luton Airpot also has various international flights, and is under 2 hours from Coventry by bus (National Express).
- East Midlands Airport (near Nottingham) has some international flights, and has an (infrequent) bus service (National Express) to Coventry.
Taxis
The best place to catch a taxi from the campus is the taxi rank near the Students Union. You can locate this using the maps linked above (search for "Taxi Rank" in the interactive map or see square E6 in the enlarged map linked above).
Restaurants
Lunches will be provided during the workshop. On Monday 14th April, light finger-food will be available during the Energy GRP Reception. The Workshop Dinner will be held on Thesday 15th April.
Workshop participants can use the restaurants in Radcliffe as well as other conference venues on campus. However, to ensure table availability pre-booking a table is advised. Details can be here.
There are various other options for eating on Campus, including restaurants, cafes and pubs. Details can be found here. There is also an independent pub, The Varsity, at the entrance of the University Campus on Gibbet Hill Road (see square E7 in the map at the end of this guide). See their website for details.
