Heather Turner wins American Statistical Association award

Dr Heather Turner is the winner of the 2005 Best Contributed Presentation Award of the ASA Statistical Computing Section.

The award is made for Heather's talk on "Multiplicative Interaction Models in R", jointly authored with David Firth, which she gave at the 2005 Joint Statistical Meetings of the American Statistical Association and other major statistical societies, held in Minneapolis. The expanded written version of the work, Generalized Nonlinear Models in R: An Overview of the gnm Package (pdf), develops a unified approach to computation and inference for a large class of nonlinear statistical models, and describes a wide variety of applications in fields as diverse as agriculture, medicine and sociology.

The award will be made at the 2006 Joint Statistical Meetings in Seattle.
