Dr David Martinez del Rio
Academic background
I am an Applied Mathematician with a PhD in Mathematics. My research focuses on Dynamical Systems and their applications to physical problems. I also have a background in Theoretical Physics and a strong interest in Plasma Physics.
From 2009 to 2020, I served as a Teaching Assistant and Lecturer at the School of Sciences, UNAM (Mexico), where I taught a range of undergraduate Mathematics courses, from introductory to advanced levels, as well as a postgraduate module in Analytical Mechanics.
I subsequently held two Research Fellowships at the Mathematical Institute, University of Warwick (2020–2022 and 2023–2024), working on the numerical implementation of Dynamical Systems. During the 2022/23 academic year, I also taught Mathematical Statistics and Introduction to Probability in the Department of Statistics at Warwick.
I am currently an Academic Tutor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick. I enjoy helping students develop confidence with mathematical ideas and seeing them connect theory with real-world applications.
