Tara Seedher
I am a statistics tutor, supporting the running of undergraduate tutorial classes (Probability I) , providing 1-1 student support and in marking of assignments/exams. Before this, I carried out a MRes in Cancer Science at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Professor Clare Bankhead and Dr Brian Nicholson. I hold a MSc in Statistical Sciences from the University of Oxford and a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics from the Queen Mary University. I strongly enjoy statistical modelling, finding the best appropriate model to a real-life dataset to predict outcomes. in statistical modelling. I have extensive experience in statistical programmes such as R and STATA and can confidently and competently carry out statistical analysis with these tools.
I have particular interest in translating statistical research into public health strategies. I have considerable experience researching early diagnosis of cancers through my internship at the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine and my MRes at the University of Oxford. I find great fulfilment in contributing to research that improves patient outcomes.
I have always been passionate about statistics, which inspired me to become a tutor and share that enthusiasm with others. Being a statistics tutor allows me to motivate and inspire students by sharing my knowledge in a way that makes the subject engaging and relevant. I hope to use my experience in epidemiological research to demonstrate the high, real-world significance of statistics.
