Richard Haughey
I am a second-year CDT student in the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick, working under the joint supervision of Dr Alice Corbella and Professor Simon Spencer. My research is in computational Bayesian statistics, focusing on sequential Monte Carlo methods for state-space models with hard-zero observation likelihoods. In particular, I am interested in collapse-proof particle filtering methods that preserve observational support while producing reliable likelihood estimates for Bayesian inference.
Prior to joining Warwick, I completed my MMath in Mathematics and Statistics at Durham University in 2024. My master's project, supervised by Professor Andrew Golightly, focussed on Bayesian inference for stochastic differential equation models.
Outside academia, I am passionate about sports, both as a player and a supporter. I represent the university in both the table tennis and pool teams, and I also enjoy playing football and badminton more casually.
