Catalina Vallejos
From 31st of March of 2014 I started to joint appointment as a "Career Development Fellow" at the MRC Biostatistics Unit and the European Bioinformatics Institute (both located in Cambridge), under the supervision of Professor Sylvia Richardson and Dr. John Marioni. My new contact email is: catalina.vallejos@mrc-bsu.cam.ac.uk.
I'm a fourth PhD student under the supervision of Professor Mark Steel. The research during my PhD includes:
- Duration/survival analysis
- Bayesian inference
- Unobserved heterogeneity
- MCMC methods
Education
Before coming to Warwick I did a BSc in Mathematics (with specialization in Statistics) in the Faculty of Mathematics of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, during my studies I did also a Certificate in Economics. Additionally, I received a MSc in Statistics degree in the same university. My dissertation project was about Long Memory Time Series, under the supervision of Dr. Wilfredo Palma.

Teaching
I participated in the academic tutoring program of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and University of Warwick in areas related to probability, statistical inference, mathematical calculus and microeconomics. Additionally, during the first semester of 2010 I did a Lecture on Regression Analysis for Engineering students of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Other activities
During the academic year 2011/12 I was one of the organizers of YRM which is the departmental seminar where PhD students and young researchers can present their work. I'm also a member of the organizing commitee for the Survival Analysis for Junior Researchers 2014 conference.
