History
The Applied Statistics & Risk Unit (AS&RU) was established in 2016 as a successor to the highly successful Risk Initiative and Statistical Consultancy Unit (RISCU) The establishment of AS&RU signalled a move away from routine consultancy toward research-based activity with external and cross-departmental partners. Risk and decision making under uncertainty remains a key focus of the expertise within the Unit and AS&RU also provides a gateway to the full breadth of expertise within the Department of Statistics.
Core Team
AS&RU is led by Director Dr Martine J Barons, with Dr Kirsty Hassall as deputy Director and Professor Jim Q. Smith as senior advisor. Current research assisstants include;
