Biography

I am an Assistant Professor/Director of Studies with Short Courses, and I have also worked as Assistant Director of Studies for 10 years on the Warwick Pre-sessional English Course, leading on Teacher and Course management. I have 35 years of EFL/EAP/ESP teaching experience; my interests lie in English Language Teaching, Teacher Training and professional development, as well as Intercultural skills building for UG, PG and Pre-Doctoral programmes. Key areas of expertise include: English Language Teaching - ESP/EAP & EMI Teacher Training and Continuing Professional Development. Educational Leadership and Management Curriculum Design and Management Course Planning, Design & Administration E-Learning/ Educational Technology/AI in Teaching and Learning Exam writing and Assessment Whilst in Iran, I was Education Officer at the British Embassy; I was appointed Local Secretary for the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate and worked with the Ministry of Education to help re-introduce the Cambridge EFL exams, including the training of local staff to examine and administer the tests. I also re-established the IELTS teaching and examination programme through IDP in conjunction with the Australian Embassy, and the TOEFL examinations through the Embassy of Canada. Whilst in the Canary Islands, I founded a British secondary School, and became Headteacher for 15 years, during which time I lead the school through several formal inspections, to become a fully accredited Centre for Cambridge University's International Examinations, City and Guilds and Edexcel International Exams. Other experience includes EAP/ESP/EFL teaching at Coventry College, FoundationOnCampus @ Coventry University, and the development of an International Foundation Programme and Masters Qualifying Pathway for both Coventry College and ONCampus. I have also written and assessed for Trinity GESE Exams/Pearson Test of Academic English. On completion of a Post Graduate Award in Technology Enhanced Learning, I was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). More recently, my work with technology in teaching has led me to the award of CMALT (Certified Membership of the Association of Learning Technologists).
