pre-course

You can access a film from Teachers TV on action research here.

You can also review the guidance on carrying out action research for module 1 and module 2.

You might want to review a textbooks on action research for example:

Burton, D. and Bartlett, S. (2005) Practitioner Research for Teachers, Paul Chapman, London.

Campbell, A., McNamara, O. and Gilroy, P. (2004) Practitioner Research and Professional Development in Education, Paul Chapman, London.

Elliott, J. (1991) Action Research for Educational Change. Buckingham, Open University Press.

Hopkins, D. (2002) A Teacher’s Guide to Classroom Research, (3rd Ed.) Buckingham, Open University Press.

MacIntyre, C. (2000) The Art of Action Research in the Classroom. London, Fulton.

Sagor, R. (2005) The Action Research Handbook, Sage, California.

Of these books I would suggest that Sagor's is a little more thought provoking.

You might want to access accounts by teachers of action research at http://www.evaluation.icttestbed.org.uk/research note these are valuable as examples of teachers' practice but they are not intended to model the kinds of accounts you are expected to write of action research.

More important than this is to consider your use of new technology, your role in school, your use of technology to date, what opportunities do you see in technology, what difficulties do you see in using technology. You may already have an idea for a project in which case you might want to do some reading around this.
