IE 933 Assessment: Leading change with new technology
[This assignment may act as the pilot for the project report next year.]
We are looking at leading change with new technology in your school. This may be through working with another individual; groups; a department or across a pastoral team. It may be focused on an event, or a series of events such as in-service training, the introduction of a new scheme of work or some informal support for a colleague.
In writing this up you might want to cover:
Theoretical background
Possible themes here include:
What do we know about CPD; forms of CPD; about change and about teachers’ attitudes to change.
What do we know about the opportunities and constraints which new technology offers in bringing about change? Which models have worked and not worked in relation to new technology CPD.
Why is there an optimistic rhetoric concerning new technology?
The opportunity or problem
As with LPE1 what is the opportunity / problem you have ‘found’ [see above]. First thoughts and how have these thoughts been modified by further investigation (reconnaissance). What do I know about the people I am working with and the context in which they are working.
Design and Planning
What do I want my ‘interventions’ to achieve’?
How will what I am offering address the problem / opportunity?
What other possibilities are there?
How will I evaluate my ‘intervention'?
Is A SWOT analysis helpful?
Can I timetable the intervention in some way.
Implementation and evaluation
What did I do and what happened?
What evidence do I have for impact?
What were unexpected outcomes?
What did I learn about the context ?
What did I learn about the use of new technology and its contribution to learning?
Where do I go from here?
What implications are there for my teaching, my colleague, my department, my school. How do these relate to the literature discussed earlier.
