Dave is a Secondary Associate Teaching Fellow at the Centre for Teacher Education. He is also involved with the delivery of the Geography Subject Studies Programme taught at the University. Following his first degree and PGCE qualification, Dave undertook a MA in Education and Physical Education at Leeds University. In 2005 completed his NPQH as part of his professional development training in Leadership and Management.
Professional and Teaching Expertise
Dave has 38 years teaching in secondary schools, with a range of experiences including subject specialism in Geography and Physical Education, middle management roles and from 1995 onwards a variety of Senior Leadership roles including Head of Sixth Form and Professional Development Co-ordinator. He has a long experience of coaching and mentoring in Schools.
Since 2012 Dave has worked at the CTE initially on the Teach First Programme as a Subject and Professional Tutor. He followed Teach First when it switched Universities and worked until 2016 with Birmingham City University. He continued his work with CTE switching to the PGCE programme and has worked on this since.
Academic Interests & Teaching & Learning Specialisms
Dave has a strong interest in teaching and learning in Geography and since he started with the CTE he has supported the Subject Studies area including writing online Units and preparation of materials for the current programme he teaches on.
