Honorary Teaching Fellow

In 2000 I starting my career as a mathematics teacher at Bishop Challoner Catholic College. I fell into the role of mentor when, as a department, we hosted a number of trainees who struggled to make progress. Having closely worked with these trainee teachers I was then asked to work with struggling trainees from across our alliance of schools. This role blossomed into my current role as Senior Lead Mentor for Bishop Challoner Teaching School Alliance.

My continued contribution to working as an Honorary Teaching Fellow will be to support schools, Professional Mentors and Subject Mentors to deliver the best possible training experience for Trainee Teachers, supporting NQT and RQTs on their journey to become highly trained and well equipped teachers. Working together with Teaching Fellows at the Centre for Teacher Education has proven to be an effective and proactive Initial Teacher Training (ITT) partnership which benefits the students and trainee teachers across our schools.

Being a mother of 3 girls my interests are now anything to do with being active with them, finding a quiet moment and reading.

As a mentor through and through I would love to support those who want to engage with ITT and current research either through working with trainees, new and established mentors or developing trainee teachers to become resilient, lifelong learners themselves and how this impacts the classroom daily.
