The role of research and intellectual curiosity in education’ work – led by Jen Rowan-Lancaster, CTE.
Jen’s session examines why educational research is an imperative aspect of your teaching career. As a Warwick teacher intellectual curiosity will always be part of your teacher make-up and this session will support you to explore what this means for you beyond the PGCE whether that’s completing your MA at CTE or through engagement with CPD opportunities in school.

The role of the SENDCo
Officially, is to be responsible for the day to day running of the school's SEND policy. In reality, it is so much more!
This is a truly unique role that combines two of the more traditional pathways in education: pastoral and faculty leadership. It is one that places young people and their families at the heart of everything you do, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. At the same time, you will hold a key strategic role in shaping school policy and working with the Local Authority. The life of a SENDCo is never dull! I look forward to meeting you if you would like to find out more about this exciting and fulfilling career in teaching.

Leadership in School with Bethany Kirby, St. John's CofE Primary School, Birmingham
We'll dive into the steps to take on leadership roles. We'll cover what these roles involve and the skills you need. With plenty of discussions, practical tips and a chance for Beth, as Warwick PGCE alumnus, to share her journey into leadership, this session aims to give you the know-how and confidence to move up the ranks in an early years or primary setting.

The role of the Subject Lead with Wendy Smith, St. John's CofE Primary School, Birmingham.
We'll explore what the role entails, the skills you'll need, and how to successfully navigate this role. You'll learn about different strategies for enhancing your subject area and ways to support and inspire your colleagues. Wendy will share her journey from TA to subject lead and how you can have an impact here on the teaching and learning in your schools.

Setting up your first classroom with Anna Donnelly – CTE
- Consider what you already know about classroom / learning spaces organisational decisions.
- Think about research linked to this area.
- Make links from across the course to support your decisions when designing your ‘new’ classroom(s).
- Think about your new school policy (if there is one!) on classroom organisation / learning spaces, layout and any non-negotiables.

The role of the DSL with Sarah Megeney, Finham Park School
I have been in the teaching profession for 30 years working as a teacher, head of department, teacher advisor, National Strategy Consultant and now as a Deputy Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). During my session I will share my experience of being a DSL, what it means to be a DSL, why you might want to be one and the incredible difference this role can make to both children and families. If you want to make a difference to children’s futures this could be the route for you.

The role of the Subject Lead with Debbie Watson, Finham Park School.
An experienced teacher of 19 years, I have recently become subject lead after a few other roles within the school. Together we'll explore what the role of subject lead entails on a day-to-day basis, the skills you'll need and how to develop them, plus how to be successful as both a line manager of a team of staff plus co-ordinating the subject specifics.

Feed Your Passion – Becoming a Senior Professional Mentor – led by Sita Manghnani, Alderbrook School, Solihull.I am a Senior Professional Mentor for Trainee Teachers and Early Career Teachers, and also facilitate the Early Career Programme across the Solihull Borough for the Teacher Development Trust. I will share with you the steps I took to progress my career from a subject teacher to a leader responsible for leading new teachers and trainees. The role of Senior Professional Mentor is extremely rewarding; if you are interested in the development of all learners regardless of staff or student, this will be an ideal session for you!

The role of pastoral lead- building a knowledge base to become the most effective pastoral lead in a variety of settings with with Emma Wilkes.
I qualified as a teacher of geography and, through various twists and turns (including head of geography and senior leadership), I recently took my pastoral experience to work in children’s services at a large metropolitan council. Working as a pastoral lead in a large “All-through Academy” (aged 3 to 18) for nearly a decade, I developed my skills and experience along the way. In the workshop we will consider the different types of pastoral role ‘out there’ and the ways it’s possible to gain a wealth of experience in early career stages to stand you in good stead for senior pastoral roles and beyond.
