  1. Hi, my name is Luke and I am a subject mentor for a computer science SD trainee at my school. I wanted to take on the role of subject mentor again as the school is expanding its reach in regard to computer science, and the opportunity to welcome into the team someone who was passionate and could bring fresh ideas, was something I welcomed wholeheartedly. I work at a state funded, high achieving school in Birmingham and I am looking forward to the mentoring process this academic year.

  2. Hi all, my name is Zoe and I am the history PGCE mentor at a large secondary school in Warwickshire. I have menotored and supported trainees before and I am looking forward to mentoring again this year. I really enjoyed my own PGCE at Warwick university and had excellent placement mentors so mentoring is a good way to give back and support others. It is always nice to work with trainees as it lets you see teaching in a fresh way, trial new things and reflect upon your own teaching.

  3.   I am Dave, I currently teach at West Coventry Academy. I have mentored a few students over the years in various types of ways eg PGCE, teacher first  etc. .   I think its vital that we help pass on some experience to the new generation of teachers. I also enjoy finding out about any `new` ideas that are coming of universities or listening to fresh perspectives from trainee teachers.

  4. Hi all,

I am Kate and I am the ITT and NQT Professional Mentor at George Dixon Academy in Birmingham. Our Academy recognizes the importance and huge benefit that trainees bring to our school. We enjoy working in partnership with Warwick as they have a rigorous yet supportive approach. As a result, we have employed many trainees as NQTs and recognize the positive impact that new teachers bring to this profession.

  5. Hello, my name is Emma and i work in a secondary school in Coventry. I am looking forward to being a mentor so we can work together to raise standards of teaching and ensure students are getting the best education.

  6. Hello, My name is Lee. I'm Literacy Lead and an English teacher at Myton School, Warwick.

Having taught in a range of different schools in South Africa and the UK (Yorkshire, West Midlands, Worcestershire and Warwickshire), I feel strongly about the need for passionate teachers who are well-equipped to effectively educate our next generation of pupils to be their best selves and to help them face the challenges of modern life.  As a mentor, I hope to support trainees to this end in collaboration with the staff in my department and at my school.

  7. Hi

I'm Angus. I'm professional mentor at Moseley School & Sixth Form. I like the idea of us as gatekeepers for the standards of the profession, I enjoy the fact that I can explore some evidence-informed teaching with the trainees; and I appreciate the enhancement to my own leadership and inter-personal skills that this role provides.

  8. Hi, I'm Ken, a maths teacher at Heart of England School on Balsall Common. I have enthusiasm and positivity to spare and look forward to sharing this with potential new teachers.

  9. Hi I'm Natalie,

I am a science teacher and second in department.  This is my first year back full time after 10 years of part time work.  I am really looking forward to mentoring our trainee teacher this year, and hopefully continue to do this in the future.

  10. Hi everyone, My name is Ruth. I am Head of School at a junior school. Having been a school mentor for trainees, NQTs and RQTs for many years, I still like to retain this role as I find it so rewarding; being part of the trainee's professional development, watching them grow as teachers and 'paying back' into education. Myself and the staff also learn from having the trainees in our school too. I am looking forward to working with the University again this year and meeting other mentors at training sessions and the annual conference.

  11. Hi all, I am Mandeep and I proudly work at Park Hill Primary School in Coventry. After several experiences supporting a range of trainees, I have recently taken the role of ITT Placement Mentor and Work Experience Coordinator. Now that my years of classroom experience is in the double digits, I am keen to ensure that future children receive the high quality teaching they deserve, to enable them to reach their potential. Also, as a person who struggled in Primary School and was embarrassed that I needed to be "in the special group", I am now proud to repay the perseverance of the educators that helped me succeed, in helping other children. This opportunity will enable me to develop my mentoring and coaching skill, pass on my passion to others and teach me new skills.

  12. Hello, I'm Rachael and I teach in Reception at the minute.  I have been the student mentor at school for a few years now and really enjoy it.  When I trained at Warwick, my mentors really encouraged and supported me through my placements and I would like to be able to do the same for new students.

  13. Hello, I'm Sophie. This is my second year as a subject mentor and although it is hard work, it is very rewarding to contribute to the development of new teachers. I also find it extremely beneficial to my own practice and allows me to reflect and improve. I teach at an 11-18 secondary school with high expectations and very good outcomes.

  14. Hello, My names Ryan and I am the Year 3 lead teacher and  a joint trainee mentor at St.Margaret's CofE Junior school. I am relatively 'new' to teaching as I am in my 4th year of my career. I am looking forward to taking on the mentor role at our school as I believe it is important to invest in the future and take every opportunity to learn new thing and pick up new practises.

  15. Hello, my name is Adele.  I have been a Primary practitioner for 24 years. I was a class teacher progressing to an Assistant Head teacher at another local school within the city, to currently being a Deputy Headteacher at Allesley Primary School for the last 13 years.   I have undertaken many roles and responsibilities over the time. During my career I have developed considerable experience in both my teaching, leadership and management skills which I believe meet the requirements of being a mentor.  I enjoy supporting others and I find myself learning new things working together in partnership with the University students and other professionals.

  16. Hi, my name is Hayley, I am an Art Teacher in a comprehensive secondary school in Warwickshire. I took on the role of a mentor as I feel it is really important to receive the correct training and level of support when starting a career in teaching and I would like to be able to offer that guidance to a trainee. Furthermore I felt it would be interesting to share ideas and resources with a new and enthusiastic member of the team.

  17. Hi, I'm Jo and I work at a large Infant School as Assessment Lead and Y2 lead. I've been in teaching for about 25 years now.  I clearly remember my outstanding mentors when I did my PGCE and it is always a pleasure to be able to 'put something back in' to the next generation.   I have mentored students from other Uni's during the years and enjoy seeing them flourish as classroom practitioners.  I love being able to model to them excellent practice and guide them along their own journey towards becoming a fantastic teacher.

  18. Hi all

My name is Sunny and I have been teaching for 12 years now.  Currently I work in a 2 form Primary school and new to Year 6 teacher!

I have past experience in mentoring college students and NQTs but I thought the ITT was a fresh challenge.  The main reason for getting involved was to be able to share my experience and expertise and I feel I am strong at building positive relationships with adults and children.

I feel this programme is the best way for students to learn throughout their 10 months at University.
