CTE Trainee Teacher Wellbeing

Sunset with clouds

“Support for teachers has become an issue of supporting social chances and of national recovery. This generation of children will be significantly affected by experiencing a global pandemic during their compulsory education. It is vital that those responsible for giving them the best chance, and helping them to imagine their own futures, are well enough to keep showing up – both physically and emotionally."

Sinead McBrearty, CEO of Education Support (January, 2021)

Welcome

The wellbeing of trainees is a key factor in their PGCE success and ongoing retention in teaching. Wellbeing can be supported in schools where the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter (2021)Link opens in a new window and Early Career Framework (ECF)Link opens in a new window are applied. Within CTE, trainee teachers’ wellbeing is supported by personal tutors, moderation tutors and school mentors, alongside specific wellbeing sessions delivered as part of the Professional Enquiry module and the resources on this website.
