Very many heartfelt congratulations for your achievements over your time at Warwick. It has certainly been quite a remarkable time and one that we will not forget quickly. To have achieved what you have managed over these times is quite incredible and you should be very proud of yourselves. Adapting to online assessments through last year at short notice and then this year adapting to online teaching and learning and engaging in a remote environment. The skills that you have acquired, of adaptability and resilience, over and above the key skills of an economist that you have learned through the modules over your time with us will surely stand you in good stead as you venture out beyond Warwick.

Your time at Warwick was clearly not only about studying, but participating in the clubs and societies and also about the relationships you have formed over your time here. I hope you take away with you fond memories of your time with us as you reflect back on the whole experience and how you have developed and grown as an individual with a skill set to take out to the world and to try and make a difference in whatever you decide is your next step. Please do stay in touch and yet again congratulations to each of you.

Another year and another fantastic set of students! In what was a second year of disruption caused by the pandemic I have once again been incredibly impressed by the dedication and commitment of our students. I know that so many of you have faced extra challenges this year on top of what is a tough course so you deserve kudos for making it through the challenging (and hopefully also fun) final year at Warwick. Best of luck for the future!

Well, the time has come - Graduation 2021! It's been great to see you progress through your years at Warwick, gaining knowledge, making memories, working through difficult times and enjoyable experiences, and having an incredible time that will be a very special part of your life to look back on. I wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do next and in the future. Please remember Warwick - we remember you, and it's you that make Warwick what it is: an amazing and rewarding place to be. You'll always be welcome back if you want to visit anytime - we'd love to see you. The main point of Graduation is to celebrate your achievements, and they've been many and awesome. You have the admiration of all the Economics Department staff for the way you've dealt with everything that's been thrown at you and come out smiling, or at least with some good tales to tell! Many, many congratulations! Enjoy your celebration - you deserve it.

Congratulations on your graduation. I have enjoyed working with so many of you in the final year of your undergraduate studies on the EC337 Industrial Economics and the RAE modules. It is a pleasure working with such smart and motivated students. I hope you are proud of what you've achieved, and look back and realise just how much your economics knowledge and life skills have developed over the past three years. It is strange thinking that I've got to know some of you well and yet I've never met any of you in person. Please keep in touch. We love to receive emails with updates and keep us informed of contact detail changes. Then we will be be able to update you on the development of the department and will be able to invite you to future events. These may be online events, but I hope that before too long there will be scope to hold in person alumni events, in which case we will all finally be able to meet up!

Many congratulations on your tremendous achievement. Your family and friends, I'm sure, must be very impressed by all of your efforts and application in what have been extremely challenging circumstances for everyone. I personally have been in awe of the way in which all the students I have worked with this year have shown dedication, resolution and focus in meeting the academic challenges, augmented over the course of the last 4 terms, associated with graduating in Economics from Warwick. I'm sure that your experiences and studies will stand you in very good stead for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I wish you all the very best in all that you go on to do.

What are your favourite memories of your time at University?

Me and my friends trying to quietly eat/nap during our 3-hour Oculus lectures :)) Joining WES led to some of the best moments from the socials, trips, and dinners to organizing the actual event itself!

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

The events they hosted led me to meet amazing lifelong friends and the wonderful staff who have supported me through this three-year journey.

What will you miss about University?

I will miss the late-night Tesco trips, biking around the wonderful campus scenery, randomly bumping into friends on the 5th-floor library, and visiting the food market. Oh, I forgot about the seamless bus trips to campus and the rushed walk from the Oculus to Radcliffe between lectures :)

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

Don't wait for an opportunity to come, go out and chase it!

In spite of the restrictions imposed due to the Covid pandemic, I hope you still feel that you have had a wonderful and productive three/four years, and also that Warwick Economics has met all (or most of) your expectations. Three years is a long time and I hope you have made many life-long friends. Now is the time to go out and live your dreams. What are your favourite memories of your time at University?

Spending time in the Chaplaincy trying to study, or at the Piazza eating with friends was my personal favourite, while watching the sun change its hues from its extensive palette. The geese running around Lakeside was also an amusing sight, that I will miss!

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

I enjoyed all of the induction events as well as the interactive lectures. I still remember sitting in the first row, being asked to toss a coin by Jeremy, during a lecture on hypothesis testing in EC226 (Econometrics).

What will you miss about University?

I will miss cycling, walking, running from one class to another.

In what ways has your time at University prepared you for what comes next?

My time at Warwick has prepared me to be more open minded, resilient, and given me the confidence to achieve what I aim for.

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

What will you miss about University?

The main ones would be the friends I've made, the dedicated lecturers I've had the honour of being taught by, the thoughtful staff that have helped me and the memories I've created - all throughout the three years of University. But also the little things, like the Arts Centre's mushroom soup I had every Friday, the iced sugar-free caramel latte from the Cafe Library, the sleepless nights at the Social Sciences building and the lectures at Oculus 1.05. I will miss running to the library to snatch a SmartBoard for our Econometrics group discussions, the packed morning bus rides to University, the sunsets I've witnessed at Cryfields fields, the frisbee training sessions behind Claycroft and netball tournaments at Lakeside courts. I will also miss my room in Heronbank, the long walks to Tesco, getting bubble tea at Happy Lemon Cannon Park, the yoga sessions at Simply Gym and the desserts at Varsity. Not to forget goofing around with my mates and giving tours around University on the Nextbikes. I will miss a lot of things about University and to list each and every one would be an impossible task. The three years at University have played such an integral role in my life and I will miss each and every part of it, big or small. So, thank you Warwick, thank you for everything!

In what ways has your time at University prepared you for what comes next?

The Adanni I am today is a completely different person to the 19-year-old Adanni who flew 10,612 km from Malaysia to the UK in 2018. An Economics graduate from one of the most prestigious universities in the UK. They say university is about getting out of your comfort zone, exploring and experiencing the wildest things imaginable. To come out the other side a whole person, to truly discover yourself as a human being - more than just grades on a piece of paper. I have grown so much throughout the three years of University - from acting in Malay theatre to leading student conferences to trying new sports to volunteering to travelling and experiencing different cultures to doing all the things I genuinely love. University life has taught me to be okay with not knowing what lies ahead. To celebrate victories - no matter big or small, to cherish every moment, to love all aspects of life. To learn that, in my opinion, is the best lesson I could have ever asked for. To the exciting adventures in the future! I truly came, saw and conquered.

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

Graduating is not an easy feat, much less in a pandemic. Immensely proud of my cohort and all the struggles we have managed to push through. This is just the beginning! Celebrate and cherish every moment because at one point, this is what you wished for with all your heart. Life is but one gigantic puzzle and we are all just trying to figure it out, one piece at a time. To the good, the bad and all the lessons we will learn in the future, Mens Agitat Molem!

Dear RAE students, This is a brief message to say congratulations on your success and achievement. What a challenging year this has been for all! To have come through such a challenging time and still realised your academic ambitions, you all deserve a genuine and loud cheer and I hope we can do that in person in the very near future. Along with all of my colleagues, I never cease to be surprised and enthralled by the ingenuity, creativity and technical abilities demonstrated in your dissertations. Typically, the academic levels achieved go well beyond what would normally be expected of an undergraduate, as is demonstrated by the remarkable attainment of our RAE students in international conferences and competitions each year. I hope you have enjoyed the challenge of this module, feel you have grown from it and take great pride and satisfaction in all you have achieved. I wish you all the very best for your future and hope that the skills that you have developed in the RAE module will help it be a bright and rewarding one for you.

What are your favourite memories of your time at University?

As with most, the people I met at Warwick have come from all walks of life, from all over the world and being able to have such a wide variety of conversations; learn, share and laugh with them all has been a privilege and built beautiful I will never forget.

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

Having learnt and taken courses at various institutions to study Economics, one thing that sets them apart is their support. The level of time and effort that the staff put in under last minute situations or even hours taken out selflessly on their part to make sure something is understood well and throughly, even amongst pandemic is a testament to the departments character and I have felt such joy to be a part of it.

What will you miss about University?

As much as I will miss learning and spending time in societies to social events, the crux of university to me has been the people, both staff and students who have played a significant part in shaping the person I have become over the last 3 years.

In what ways has your time at University prepared you for what comes next?

Before coming to Warwick, I always wondered why employers had such high interest in us as students. Upon coming and learning here it became clear to me that the people here are some of the most conscientious and driven individuals I have ever met. That mentality and driver has genuinely been contagious and something that has carried me through my degree and most certainly will do so in the workplace.

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

I wish my cohort the best of luck in whichever endeavours they decide to undertake in the near and distance future; masters, corporate world, entrepreneurship, non-profit and charity etc! As Warwick will always have a place in my heart, so do all of those who go through it so if anyone needs anything at all through good and bad, always happy to chat and grab a drink or bite! Best of luck class of 2021!

What are your favourite memories of your time at University?

My favourite memory has to be the time I spent as the Talks Director and President of Warwick International Development Society. Really enjoyed spending a great 2 years with an amazing team. Alongside this, I had a great time playing for the university hockey team for the past 3 years.

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

Alongside the academic quality of the department, I especially liked it when the professors taught us papers that they themselves had published. This really showed to me the high academic standards of the department. Also, I loved the out-of-the-blue events that the department came up with such as the 10-pin bowling night out and Quiz night dinners. It's a shame because of Covid, so many in-person events must have been cancelled but I still loved all the effort that the staff made in making our uni experience as enjoyable as possible.

In what ways has your time at University prepared you for what comes next?

Too many to list down but I would say resilience, IT skills and cooking are a few of the main learnings. University has been a time of innumerable lessons that I will take on for life. I have had learnings not only from academia but also from my society work, hockey and living independently away from family. I aspire to take all my learnings onto my MSc at UCL and beyond.

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

Firstly, I want to thank all the academic staff and all the students for making the last 3 years so memorable. Hopefully, we can all see each other for the graduation ceremony next year but if not I wish everyone all the best for their upcoming endeavours and I hope we all make ourselves, our families and especially the Economics department proud through our future work.

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

The professionalism and efficiency of the Department made learning a truly great experience. Both the teachers and members of the undergraduate office were always willing to help with any doubts or queries and were genuinely helpful. The department also frequently held fun games and event days which made socializing with my peers a lot easier.

What will you miss about University?

My friends! I met some of my best friends at university and we had a great three years together. The university provides a truly unique experience where you get to meet like-minded friends as you grow and develop in an environment greatly suited for cultivating your interests and challenging you at an intellectual level, further facilitating your growth.

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

The most important thing you can do is to learn to take a step back, breathe and have fun! Studies can get really stressful, especially in your final year and sometimes you forget that you're entire future doesn't depend on a grade or an essay. It's your final year so yes do focus on your studies but also remember to make plenty of fun memories along the way.

Dear Graduates of 2021, Many congratulations to ALL of you on completing your studies and hope you've enjoyed your time at Warwick, particularly with us in Economics, and that your time here will hold for you lots of special memories. The postponement of 2021 graduation ceremony, that you've all been working so hard towards, is no doubt disappointing with not being able to share the special day/moment with your families/closest friends, but hopefully there will be the chance for all or some of you to gather together and celebrate in other ways at a later time. Work hard at your ambitious goals and life's challenges but remember to take time out to enjoy yourself along the way, and do stay in touch with us. What are your favourite memories of your time at University?

"The highlight of my time at university has definitely been the people I've met and societies I've been involved with- including 180 Degrees Consulting, Project Access and the Warwick Economics Summit. Having the chance to connect with like-minded students from across the world through these extra-curricular and social opportunities has been an incredibly memorable experience and definitely given me a broader outlook on the world, as well as connected me with (hopefully!) life-long friends. Writing my RAE dissertation, which investigated the long-run impacts of Early Childhood Nutrition on Human Capital Accumulation, Cognitive Development, and Scholastic Achievement in Vietnam, was also a highlight. Having the chance to, come up with a research idea from scratch, develop a hypothesis, conduct a literature review all the way through to doing the analysis in STATA and final write-up was a challenging experience, but one I learned a lot from."

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

"From an academic standpoint, the teaching and course quality of the Economics Department really stood out. I really enjoyed most of the modules I took in second and third year, particularly Econometrics courses (Econometrics I, Microeconometrics and Time Series), Development Economics, International Trade, Behavioural Economics , and Game Theory, alongside the RAE. The support of the department was fantastic- many of the tutors would always go above and beyond to help with any queries I had. Thanks to all the staff (special shout out to Tom Martin, Victor Lavy, Emil Kostadinov, Jeremy Smith, Elizabeth Jones, Dennis Novy, Pedro Souza) for making it such a great experience :)"

What will you miss about University?

I'll definitely miss the tight-knit nature of the Department and cohort, all the friends I made and our shared experience of university life- from the general vibe going to in-person lectures and seminars together (pre-COVID), stressful group projects, late nights at the library or Learning Grid before a deadline, and the great social life (including the WES Tour and Ball last year and memorable nights out in Leamington)

In what ways has your time at University prepared you for what comes next?

"Time Management is definitely a skill I had to pick up through juggling academic, extra-curricular and social opportunities and job applications- in order to get the most out of the university experience. From the RAE, especially, having the initiative to work through challenges independently in STATA and in the research process overall is something I think is an invaluable skill I've developed. With the onset of the pandemic in our summer term in 2nd year and for all of 3rd year, being adaptable in the face of adversity and a totally different way of both learning and organising society activities was crucial. Not only has university helped to refine these key skills, it has also helped to broaden and refine my own view of the wider world as well as helping me to decide which direction I want my career to head towards."

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

"Thanks for an amazing three years! Despite the present circumstances preventing us from having a proper graduation ceremony or 'normal' final year, I'm sure we can still share our memories of Warwick through this platform. I've been endlessly amazed by the hardworking and resilient nature of our cohort in the face of a pandemic and I'm excited what we will collectively achieve next. Best of luck to everyone for all your future endeavours- I will miss you all and look forward to celebrating with you in person next year!"

What are your favourite memories of your time at University?

The nights I spent working on my essays in the library and coincidentally meeting some of my friends in there. It was funny looking at each other and going 'we did it again, we procrastinated again'. It was however nice working with a friend to reach the finish line - our deadlines.

What did you enjoy about the Economics Department?

The undergraduate study space, I particularly liked going in there with my friends to eat and talk or with my group members to study and discuss our upcoming projects or sometimes just by myself to study.

What will you miss about University?

The library, I spent most of my nights in there. The people, as an international student I will miss being able to see my friends in person. The piazza, night spent watching the big screen, protest and movements.

In what ways has your time at University prepared you for what comes next?

The degree itself made me challenge myself, I was leaning towards a Bipartite pathway and running away from pure economics in my 2nd year due to my grades. I decided however to go for a pure economics pathway after sharing my worries with people around me. I took up the challenge and successfully completed the degree. In other words the university taught me to continue fighting, not to give up, as there will always be a path to success.

Is there a message of goodwill you would like to share with the rest of your cohort?

Don't worry too much. Just because you lived through yesterday doesn't mean you know everything about today.
