Session 1: What is economics and what do economists do?

In this introductory session, Professor Caroline Elliott, Professor of Economics will lead an exciting and interactive session for students to tackle the questions “What is economics and what do economists do?”

Wednesday 24 March

Session 2: Meet an Economist

On the second day of the series, students will have the opportunity to meet a panel of three economists and interact with them asking questions related to their profession. We have also invited one of our undergraduate Economics students to provide a student perspective.

Thursday 25 March

Session 3: Economics Taster Session and Competition

In the first half of the session students will experience a taste of what it’s like to study economics at university, in a short taster session led by one of the Economics Lecturers, Dr Mahnaz Nazneen. The session will be introduced by Dr Lory Barile, Associate Professor at the University of Warwick.

In the second half of the session, Dr Barile will provide details on how to participate in a school competition to produce a poster, essay or video, where they will suggest possible solutions to the problem of climate change.

Thursday 25 March

18:00 - 19:00 (UK Time)

Parents Session

This final session is designed for parents and will cover topics on how to engage young learners with economics. We will be covering the following topics:

  • career opportunities for economics graduates
  • how we prepare students to acquire the right skills and knowledge through the modules they study
  • what academic and pastoral support students receive
  • student finance
  • Q&A
