Warwick Economics Lecture with Amar Gill

The Department of Economics are delighted to announce Amar Gill, Senior Director, Restructuring at NatWest Group as our next speaker in the Warwick Economics Lecture series. Amar will be joined by Emily Makinson, Head of Complex & International Restructuring at NatWest Group.

'Introduction to Banking and Restructuring', with Amar Gill and Emily Makinson

Amar and Emily will provide an overview of banking and an introduction to restructuring concepts including, what does a bank restructuring team do, indicators of financial distress, identifying potential issues and the types of restructuring transactions.

Time: 14.00 - 15.00 followed by a short drinks reception

This event is for students and staff only and registration is required in order to attend.

Christian Soegaard will introduce the speaker and chair the session. You will have the opportunity to ask questions in a Q&A at the end of the lecture, as well as network at our drinks reception in The Oculus foyer after the lecture has taken place.

About the Speakers

Amar graduated from Warwick having studied Economics. He is currently a Senior Director in the Restructuring team at NatWest, having previously worked at EY and Barclays. He has 20 years of banking and advisory experience, having started his career in investment banking and the last 15 years have been focussed on working with large companies experiencing financial difficulty.

Amar is also a guest lecturer at Loughborough Business School and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Emily graduated with a First Class degree in International Business from Loughborough University. She has worked in the banking and finance market for the last 15+ years across a range of customer facing and loan structuring roles within Corporate and Investment Banking . She has worked in and led teams focussed on originating lending mandates and advising corporate customers in leverage finance, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, asset-based lending, trade finance and infrastructure both in the UK and India.

Emily joined NatWest’s Restructuring division as Head of Complex & International Restructuring in October 2020 and now leads an experienced team of restructuring professionals focussed on transactions in the Large Corporate markets.

Emily is a Chartered Accountant..
