Brief description

The project examines the position of workers in industry, construction, and transport during the USSR's postwar reconstruction, from the end of hostilities in 1945 until Stalin's death in 1953. The main topics covered are: sources of recruitment; the standard of living; the position of young workers; enforcement of criminal sanctions against job-changing and absenteeism; the work environment and work relations inside the industrial enterprise.
