Brief description | During the 1930s and 1940s jet and rocket technology was pioneered in three countries simultaneously: Britain, Germany, and the Soviet Union. The project studies the Soviet path to the creation of a modern aerospace industry. The technical focus of the project is on the development of turbojet aviation. Its historical focus is on issues of path dependence and spillovers in technological evolution. Economically it focuses on the allocation and management of R&D resources under uncertainty in a low-trust environment. The research is based on documentation in the economic, Red Army, and state archives. |
