A message from Dr Rebecca Munro - Director of Student Experience

Hello and Welcome to Warwick Law School!

I'm the Director of Student Experience at Warwick Law School. My role involves supporting you throughout your time at Warwick, from engagement with the University, participation in the Student Union to having the best possible experience during your LLM.

In this role, I will build on the help and support provided by your personal tutors and lecturers guiding you through your module choices, assignments and examinations and building on your educational knowledge and skills. With support from our dedicated Careers Consultant, I can assist you in developing and enhancing your transferable skills for future employment opportunities. At WLS, you will be guided in exploring possible career pathways from international organisations to non-governmental organisations and from law firms to setting up your own law practice.

My role also involves helping you join and run the Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC). The SSLC constitutes an essential part of the postgraduate programme. The committee includes student representatives elected from each LLM programme. Student representatives are able to raise any matters relating to the course of study in this forum. These will be addressed by the School initially via my role, as Director of Student Experience and our Course Directors but also via discussion at the Postgraduate Committee. SSLC members attend all appropriate School committee meetings. For more information visit the SSLC pages of the Student Union website. You can run for election as a course representative in the first few weeks of Term One and I will support you with putting forward nominations and campaigning. Further details will be provided during the Welcome Week.

Your module tutors are best placed to advise you on module related issues and your personal tutor remains your first point of contact for general academic matters or any welfare/personal problems which are affecting your academic studies. There is also a dedicated Wellbeing Tutor available to PG students. Please familiarise yourself with the key contacts in WLS.

I will be running a drop-in session every week during term one, two & three to which all LLM students are invited. Please do come and see me to discuss anything at all, from seeking advice to making suggestions for improvement on any aspect of the programmes.

I look forward to meeting you - the LLM is your journey but we will be with you every step of the way!
