Dr Andi Hoxhaj wins British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award 2018
Congratulations to Dr Andi Hoxhaj, Teaching Fellow in Warwick Law School, who has won a British Academy Rising Star Engagement Award.
The prestigious award will support Dr Hoxhaj’s work on anti-corruption policy and the rule of law with a particular focus on the Western Balkans, the UK and the EU.
Dr Hoxhaj said: “I am thrilled to receive this prestigious award from the British Academy. The award will allow me to create a UK – Western Balkans Early Career Network on Migration, Security and Justice, as a forum for intellectual exchange between early career researchers, senior academics and policymakers working on the Western Balkans in the UK and the EU, and their counterparts in the region.
“The study of migration, corruption and organised crime requires a new research agenda to respond to the current policy challenges. The outcome of the network and engagement events will be to contribute towards designing new multilevel governance models that can be applicable to the UK, EU and the Western Balkans.
"I would like to extend my gratitude to all of those in Warwick Law School who supported my nomination and the proposed project, and especially Professor Dirk Tänzler at the University of Konstanz and Dr Ana Aliverti at the University of Warwick for their unwavering support”.
Dr Ana Aliverti, Director of the University of Warwick Criminal Justice Centre and Associate Professor in the School of Law, commented: “This award is a fantastic achievement which recognizes Andi’s leadership in his field of research and will help fostering a promising career.”
Dr Hoxhaj is a specialist on the Western Balkans and his expertise has already been called upon by the House of Lords International Relations Committee, who invited him to give evidence on corruption, good governance, EU Enlargement Policy, the migration of young people and the rule of law in their recent inquiry into The UK and the Future of the Western Balkans.
The British Academy’s Rising Star Engagement Awards (BARSEAs) are awarded to outstanding emerging leaders in their field of research in the United Kingdom to assist their career development plans through organising interdisciplinary events for public engagement and policy engagement of their research for other early career researchers.
