The Transformation of Consumer Law and Policy in Europe

On 21 and 22 April 2022, Warwick will host a two-day conference for a group of leading European consumer law scholars to discuss the transformation of consumer law and policy in Europe since the turn of the millennium.

The conference is co-organised by Warwick's Professor Christian Twigg-FlesnerLink opens in a new window and leading European consumer law scholar Professor Hans MicklitzLink opens in a new window (European University Institute, Florence). This conference is part of the third and final stage of a larger project lead by Professor Micklitz analysing the evolution of consumer law from the middle of the 20th century up to the present day.

Experts from across Europe will analyse how consumer law and policy has been transformed at national level, predominantly driven by the EU's legislative activity in consumer law as well as recurring themes in this process of transformation. The final outcome will be a book (edited by Professors Twigg-Flesner and Micklitz), to be published by Hart-Bloomsbury, bringing together these perspectives and distilling the various dimensions of this transformative process. This conference, conducted in hybrid format, is sponsored by the Journal of Consumer PolicyLink opens in a new window."
