Carolina Alonso Bejarano wins Andrés Torres Paper Series Award

The Mauricio Gastón Institute is pleased to announce Warwick Law School’s Dr Carolina Alonso Bejarano as one of the 2019 Andrés Torres Paper Series Awardees, supported by the Hildreth-Stewart Charitable Foundation.

The Andrés Torres Paper Series seeks proposals from scholars who have completed their dissertation research or obtained their doctoral degrees in the past five years. The national call for proposals is run every two years and seeks proposals that document the experiences of Latinos in the US. Find out more.

Carolina will be presenting her work on the Latinx experience in the US at the 2020 Speaker Series taking place on 8 October 2020 from 13:00-15:00 Boston Time. The event will take place online, is free to attend and will form part of UMass Boston’s celebrations for the Hispanic Heritage Month.

The presentation titled “Magical Coalition" in a New Jersey Town: Solidarity and Immigrants’ Rights will discuss her research on an inter-ethnic coalition that emerged in the early 2000s in opposition to local anti-immigration legislation in central New Jersey.
