Meet Warwick Law School's new Student Engagement and Experience Officer
We are thrilled to extend our congratulations to Ana Kedves who has been seconded to the role of Student Engagement and Experience Officer in the School of Law for the next year.
Ana Kedves joins us from Warwick Business School where she previously worked as a Senior Programme Coordinator (Student Experience and Widening Participation). Ana first joined Warwick as a research student in Applied Linguistics and she has since worked in a number of departments, including the Library, Residential Life Team, Warwick Business School, and Leadership and Management Development.
In her new role, Ana will be working alongside Lauren Horobin who has also been seconded to the role of Student Engagement and Experience Officer in the School of Law.
When asked about starting her secondment, Ana said:
“I'm very excited to start at Warwick Law School and look forward to learning how the department works and what the students' journey looks like here”.
We chatted more...
What will you be doing in your new role?
As a Student Engagement and Experience Officer, I will be working with a number of colleagues and teams in the department to find ways to further improve students' experience in the Law School and build a sense of community. This is a rather broad area of work and will involve organising events, from Welcome Week to Graduation and everything in between, setting up new student voice mechanisms, supporting the work of SSLC and student societies, and encouraging everyone to get involved in a way that they find constructive and enjoyable.
Are there any professional goals or aspirations you are currently working towards?
Alongside my work, I've recently completed a Professional Apprenticeship and qualified as a coach. It's been a challenging but very rewarding journey for me, and now I coach colleagues from across the University and contribute to Warwick's community of practice in this area. I'm still honing my skills (there's always more to learn!) and I'm especially interested in wellbeing in the workplace and exploring beliefs and value systems.
Is there something unique or surprising about you that your colleagues might not know?
I am passionate about the connection between mental health and exercise, and using movement to bring people together. I lead the Warwick's branch of Walk Talk Walk (shameless plug) and also volunteer at Parkrun and similar community events.
What is your favourite thing about working at Warwick?
Without a doubt - it is the people! They've made Warwick feel like home for me since day one. Also, there are so many interesting initiatives and opportunities to get involved with, both as a student and a staff member. And if the thing you want to do isn't there, people will support you in creating it.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I love being outdoors (yes, even in the rain) and try to spend some time outside every day. As for the great indoors, I have a well-used cinema membership and double digits worth of titles on my 'Currently reading' Goodreads shelf.
Good luck in your first term Ana!
