WLS students share their Thrive experience
Finalist LLB student Naveera Abhayawickrama and third year Law and Sociology student Virginia Choi have shared their experience of the Warwick Thrive programme and why they believe it is an excellent opportunity for our students.
"I joined the Thrive programme in my first year, as I was nervous about university and settling into a new country. The space gave me a chance to meet people across the university and to engage in eye-opening discussions that really helped shape my perspective on being a student and being in a new environment. It opened doors for me to engage and say yes to opportunities, which has helped me make the most of my time at university!" – Naveera Abhayawickrama |

| "Thrive invites me into a safe space of honesty. Blending of engaging activities and shared growth resonates with me. Ikigai for example, finding where passion, skills, impact, and sustainability meet really hits home. As a student pursuing law, self-doubt, and pressure often push me to keep going without pause. I appreciate that Thrive didn't just tell me to 'believe in myself', it gifts me a forward-thinking opportunity to reflect and building habits of checking in, questioning my direction, and creating room for purpose. Grounded, proactive and impactful, I'm grateful for this opportunity and I believe it's exactly the kind of experience every student needs.” - Virginia Cho | ![]() |
What is Thrive?
Thrive™ is our Warwick-developed personal development programme, which aims to support students with their confidence, resilience and agency. Open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, this 2 day/4 afternoon programme is free to attend. Thrive was co-created with students in 2023 as a women's personal development programme. With such positive feedback from students during year 1, we expanded during year 2 (2024-25) to deliver adapted content to both women and men. Feedback from students has encouraged us to widen our reach, so that as we move into year 3 (2025-26) even more students can benefit from attending the programme.
