WSPA Success for Law Student
Law finalist Ruth Mukasa has successfully completed the Warwick Skills Portfolio Award (WSPA) this year. The WSPA scheme helps students to enhance their study skills and develop other skills that are not only valued by employers but also useful more broadly for students in their personal lives whilst studying at Warwick.
Warwick Law Academics receive Awards for Teaching Excellence
Dr Celine Tan and Dr Andi Hoxhaj have been announced as winners of this year’s Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence (WATE) and PhD student Sahar Shah has been awarded the Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence for Postgraduates who Teach (WATE PGR).
Nicolle Coote named one of 150 Future Leaders
Earlier this year, final year LLB Law student Nicolle Coote won an award as part of the Future Leaders Organisation and was featured as one of the Top 150 Black Students in the UK. Future Leaders is an annual publication which profiles the most outstanding black university students in Britain, and is used as a role model guide to inspire and raise attainment. BA/Leverhulme Grant to help fund Rohingya Refugee Research
Dr Simon Behrman, Associate Professor at Warwick Law School has been awarded a British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant of £9,752 towards his project “Assessing Rights to Bangladeshi Citizenship of Stateless Rohingya Children.”
Law Alumnus Nigel Priestley is awarded an MBE
Nigel Priestley, senior partner at Huddersfield law firm Ridley & Hall and one of the UK’s most respected care and adoption specialist solicitors, has been named in the Queen’s New Year 2021 Honours List in which he has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his services to Children and Families.
Law Student Secures WIHEA Fellowship
Third year Law and Sociology student and SSLC Chair Lucy Young has been awarded a Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA) Fellowship. When asked how she felt about the news she told us, “I'm over the moon! I was quite nervous when I submitted my application, but I'm so glad I have the opportunity and resources to contribute towards substantial change across the university.”

Ana Aliverti awarded the prestigious BJC Radzinowicz Prize 2020
Congratulations to Ana Aliverti who has received the prestigious 2020 Radzinowics Prize, awarded by the British Journal of Criminology. Ana is the co-Director of Warwick Law Schools' Criminal Justice Centre.
Dr Sekalala wins ISRF Grant to support African Health App Project
Dr Sharifah Sekalala, Associate Professor at Warwick Law School, has been awarded a £5k ISRF grant to support her project: ‘There is no app for that, regulating health apps in Sub Saharan Africa.’
Lacuna Writing Competition 2020/21
We are very excited to announce the winners of the 2020/21 Lacuna Writing Competition. We were impressed by the number and standard of the submissions. Each submission is worthy of praise and the competition has shown a real talent for storytelling in the Law School which is fantastic to see.
Warwick Law student awarded Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship
Second year Warwick law student Joshua Siriboe has been awarded the 2020 Freshfields Stephen Lawrence Scholarship. The Scheme was devised to address the disproportionate under-representation of black men from less privileged backgrounds in large commercial law firms and the City of London.
