Smashing Law Dissertations: A Step-by-Step Guide

We are pleased to announce that Dr Laura Lammasniemi released a new book on March 26 2018.

Hundreds of students across the UK tackle law dissertations every year as part of their LLB or LLM courses. Laura, Assistant Professor at Warwick Law School, offers a helping hand with her new book, ‘Law Dissertations: A Step-by-Step Guide’, which provides all the direction and information needed to complete and succeed in an LLB, LLM or law-related dissertation.

Using easy to follow tools, exercises and examples, Laura’s essential guide shows students how to approach a law dissertation in a straightforward way, without compromising on intellectual rigour.

Laura shared, ‘the book aims to support students through all the issues that cause anxiety so they can focus on the research they find exciting.’

As well as explaining the process of research and outlining the various legal methodologies, the book also provides practical, step-by-step guidance on how to formulate a proposal, research plan, and literature review.

Unlike other law research skills books, it also includes a section on empirical research methodology and ethics for the benefit of students who are studying for a law-related degree.

Laura joined Warwick Law School as an Assistant Professor in 2018. Specialising in criminal law, Laura’s research focuses on the areas of law, gender and class mainly from a historical perspective. She has previously convened Dissertation modules in a number of institutions and developed Dissertation module materials for the University of London (International Academy) and is now shaking up the Undergraduate Dissertation modules at Warwick Law School.

With the undergraduate module fair coming up on April 25, find out more about the dissertation modules on offer here at Warwick.

More information about the book can be found here.
