Andreas takes part in East Asia university visit

Dr Andreas Kokkinis took part in a University visit to Malaysia and Singapore last month along with Professor John Rudd from WBS and Dr Dennis Novy from Economics. The visit formed part of a delegation headed by the Provost, Professor Christine Ennew and took place from 26-28 November 2018.

Andreas was member of the Warwick panel for two major alumni events titled ‘Britain after Brexit: Breaking with Europe and Business Prospects for ASEAN’ held at the residences of the British High Commissioners in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Each event attracted an audience in excess of 40 alumni, including business leaders, policy makers, regulators and professionals. Apart from the Warwick panel, speeches were delivered by the High Commissioners and notable alumni. The Warwick delegation also met with institutions that sponsor Malaysian students to study at Warwick at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

Andreas delivered a speech titled ‘Topical Issues in Prudential Banking Regulation’ at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), which is the country’s central bank and financial regulator. The speech, which was facilitated by a Warwick alumnus who works for the Singapore Prosecution Service, was well-received and attended by high-ranking regulatory staff.

He gave seminars at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Centre of Banking and Finance Law and the Singapore Management University (SMU), liaising with academics working in his area of expertise. Plus he hosted a well-attended dinner for recent Law School alumni in Singapore at the Asian Civilisations Museum.
