Andrew joined Warwick as Head of School in January 2019 and retired in May 2022. He joined us from the University of Sussex where he had been Head of the School of Law, Politics and Sociology from July 2015. He has previously worked at the University of Bristol, University of Manchester and University of Birmingham. At both Birmingham and Manchester he was Head of Department for several years. He has also held academic positions at the University of Oxford and Manchester Metropolitan University. Andrew became a Fellow of the Academy of Social Science in 2018.

Andrew has had several non-executive public sector positions - most recently as Chair of the Education and Training Committee of the Bar Standards Board, and as a members of the Northern Ireland and England and Wales Parole Boards. He has also been a member of the Governing Body of Regents University, London, and was for several years Chair of the UK Committee of Heads of Law Schools (CHULS). He is currently a member of the research committee of the Criminal Cases Review Commission.
