Professor Rogowski's main research and teaching areas are sociology of law, social theory, employment law, European Union law and comparative law. Over many years Professor Rogowski has been conducting research on governance of employment and social policies in the European Union. He has a special interest in applying social systems theory to the study of law and industrial relations. He is the author of the concepts of reflexive labour law and autopoietic industrial relations, which he used in comparative studies of labour law and labour market regulations, including empirical accounts of employment protection and fixed-term contracts in the European Union. Professor Rogowski has a long-standing interest in studying the judiciary, the legal profession and legal advice. He has conducted comparative studies of German labour courts and British employment tribunals as well as German corporate lawyers. He has carried out research on the impact and implementation of decisions of the German Federal Constitutional Court, on legal advice as a means of mobilising citizens against corruption and on constitutionalisation of global labour law.
