Scholarship

Velimir's work focuses on international arbitration, international investment law and the rule of law. He explores these topics by considering both the more traditional, doctrinal insights and critical legal studies. His focus is exploring the often unique legal developments which thrive within arbitration as a framework, conflicting narratives surrounding this field, but also how the existing legal structures – in addition to being rightfully criticized and/or reformed – can also be used as a force for good in their present state.

Bio

Velimir has a PhD in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He also holds an LLM in Commercial Law from University of Belgrade and a Magister Juris (Distinction, Clifford Chance Prize) from University of Oxford.

Velimir joined the school as an Assistant Professor in September 2019. Previously, he was a Research Fellow with the Berlin/Potsdam Research Group 'International Rule of Law - Rise or Decline?' at Humboldt University in Berlin. In addition, Velimir worked as an Associate Researcher at Institute of Comparative Law in Belgrade, and has acted as consultant for different World Bank and Swiss government-supported legal reform projects in Serbia.
