Meet the speaker
Allan Maleche
Advocate and litigator for health justice, with over fifteen years of experience in law, health & human rights programming, covering most disease and social areas inclusive of HIV, Tuberculosis, COVID-19, Digital Health, Gender Equity, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Maternal and Child Health, Anti-corruption, and Global Health Governance, et al. Over the course of my career, have designed and managed rights-based programmes aiming to protect affected, marginalised and vulnerable populations, at national, regional and global levels. I litigated ground-breaking & successful cases on coerced sterilization of women living with HIV, and the imprisonment of persons with TB who interrupted their treatment. The sterilization case was the first time ever a court has ruled that forced sterilization of a woman living with HIV is discriminatory. The TB case not only informed changes to Kenya’s national TB policy but shaped the global space for other countries that followed. KELIN was also awarded the prestigious Kochon Prize.
