Information on full-time & part-time study
Our LLM courses are usually a single year of full-time study. If you want to study with us part-time, the programme is studied over two years instead of one.
To be considered for the part-time LLM, you must be classed as a home student for fees purposes. International students will not be accepted onto the part-time LLM.
Part-time students study a smaller number of modules each year but will attend classes alongside our full-time students in the usual weekday timetable. The lectures you attend and therefore the days you'll need to be on campus depend on the modules you take and the days they have been timetabled.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I study full-time?
Yes. Our usual mode of study for all our LLM courses is the one year full-time programme as outlined on the main LLM pages. Part-time study is available, not compulsory!
Is this a distance learning course?
Neither our full-time nor our part-time course is distance learning, and you will be expected to be on campus for all the modules you have selected.
How many modules will I study?
In total, you'll do six selected modules and your dissertation module. Full-time students will do these modules in a single year, whereas as a part-time student you'll do four modules in your first year, and the remaining two modules and your dissertation in your second year.
Can I work at the same time as study?
The LLM degree is a full-time degree and all students enrolled on the programme are expected to be in attendance for the whole duration of the programme and continue with academic study through the year, including non-teaching periods. If you have significant work or caring responsibilities that will impact on your ability to commit to full-time study, a part-time degree may be more suitable. Please note that students on a Tier 4 International visa can only be enrolled for a full-time degree and your ability to work part-time will be dependent on the terms and conditions of your visa.
Is there anything else I need to consider?
The LLM degree is a demanding programme which requires a substantial investment of time and financial resources. Please make sure that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living costs. We are able to make reasonable adjustments for students with special learning needs and disabilities and have provisions for mitigating circumstances but all students have to commit to the mode of study and comply with the study timescales and deadlines set by the Law School. If you would like to find out more about the suitability of the course and the support available, please do get in touch with us before applying and we will be happy to answer your questions.
