Research Support Events

We would like to know what research support events people would find us useful to run in Term 2 (January-March 2026). We are therefore running a poll and will prioritise running the most popular choices:

Writing a 4* piece (including interpreting the REF criteria, consideration of what makes a 4* piece with a focus on journal articles)

Writing and submitting a journal article (including choice of journals, preparing manuscripts, the peer review process, handling rejections and revisions and publication)

Writing a book (including planning a book project, choice of publisher, book proposals, getting feedback on draft manuscripts, submitting a manuscript, the peer review process and the publishing process)

Peer review (Deciding when to be a peer reviewer, how to write a good review, responding to peer reviewer comments).

The writing process (how to make progress on writing projects, planning and executing writing, tips for overcoming writers’ block, incorporating feedback in draft work).

Writing for different audiences (how to change your writing style and approach for academic and non-academic audiences and writing styles for specific outlets e.g. blogs, policy briefs etc.)
