Enhancing the Study of Law through Interactive Teaching

This workshop explores how the study of law can be enhanced through the incorporation of interactive exercises (in both lectures and seminars). These exercises are designed to allow students to think through complex legal issues in a vacuum - separated from the real world and current events. The purpose behind such an approach is to afford students the opportunity to reach more objective/well-reasoned conclusions about the legitimacy/efficacy of the relevant law.

This is achieved by grounding the exercises in popular fictional works or alternative histories. The exercises can be in the form of a singular task (e.g. problem question) or a procedurally developing scenario (with multiple steps). This workshop seeks to highlight how incorporating interactive exercises into the teaching of law offers students an opportunity to both test and develop their understanding in an engaging and enjoyable manner.
