Q: Do I need to buy any textbooks before I start?
A: No, don't worry, your module directors will advise you which books to buy in week 1. Please note that module websites are still being updated for the forthcoming academic year so may not always indicate the books you should be buying in 2025/26. Please note that many resources (including text books) are available online from the University library and, therefore, you will not need to buy them.
First year PAIS module websites are on Moodle. You should be automatically enrolled onto core module websites. Optional module websites will become available to you once you have registered/been accepted on optional modules. All of this will be explained further in your lectures in week 1.

Q: How do I sign up for optional modules in BA Politics and BA Politics and International Studies?

Q: How will I find out my Personalised Lecture Timetable (PLTT)?
A: These are not available yet as you need to register first for your optional modules via Module Pre-Registration and then sign up for seminars (date TBC).

Q: How do I find out the name of my personal tutor?
Your personal tutor is your first point of contact for general (non-module specific) advice and for any difficulties you are experiencing. The name of your personal tutor will be listed in Tabula by the start of term.
Q: When do lectures and seminars start?
PAIS first year lectures normally start in week 1. Seminars normally start in week 2. This gives you time to settle into University, to register for modules and classes, and ensures that the seminar on a particular topic follows on from the lecture.

Lectures should sync through to your Tabula timetable (as above). However, if there are any issues, the days/times/locations of first year, term 1 PAIS lectures will be populated below by the start of term (please check your course structure for the modules you need to take).
