Location: S0.18, Social Sciences Building

'Mass Media and Democratic Revolutions around the World', Film Screening &  Public Lecture by Zoe D’Amaro (Italian filmmaker based in Amsterdam). Organised by the Centre for Studies in Democratisation (CSD/ PaIS).

Zoe will talk about the impact of mass media and film on democratic revolutions, public opinion, activism, mass participation, and political and social change around the world. Due to her strong belief in using media as a tool for democratic participation and for positive social change, Zoe created the Godmother Foundation. In 2008, Zoe wrote and directed the short documentary Interferenze, part of the international project Why Democracy. The documentary has been broadcasted i.e. by the BBC, ZDF ARTE and Swedish channel Kanal 5. In 2009, Zoe has developed and implemented a documentary training program for the disadvantaged youth of the township of Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town South Africa. Currently, Zoe is developing the feature film LOVE, which focuses on climate change and targets a young audience.

You are all welcome! More information is available for download here or on the CSD website.  Please feel free to contact Dr. Renske Doorenspleet, director of CSD, with any queries.
