You are cordially invited to the next film in the PAIS Film Club's 'Hidden Lives, Hidden Words' film series:
Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain. Directed by Ravid Kumar and starring Martin Sheen, it tells the story of two journalists (Mischa Barton, Kal Penn) who try to expose dangerous conditions at the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India in 1984.
The film will introduced by Hasan Ebrahim and Surabhi Nagar, who are screening the film in conjunction with the 'Bhopal Challenge' charity event, to raise money and awareness of the long-term fallout from the disaster on the local community:
As a university, Warwick students will try to virtually cover the distance from our campus to Bhopal (7241 km). You can join the challenge as an individual or as a part of your society. You can choose to walk, run, swim, cycle, row, play a sport etc over the 2 weeks of the challenge. You will update track the distance covered and your progress on your just giving page where your friends and family can make donations. All the funds raised will go towards Bhopal Medical Appeal, a Brighton-based charity working directly with the victims in Bhopal(www.bhopal.org).
