Warwick Conference in Legal and Political Theory

The 2025 Warwick Graduate Conference in Political and Legal Theory was held on Saturday 22 February in the Social Sciences building. The Conference was a great success, welcoming around 50 graduates and academics. Graduate presenters travelled to Warwick from a host of universities in the UK and abroad, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics, the University of New York, the University of Oslo, Central European University, the University of Pavia, to mention a few. The Graduates delivered presentations on a range of topics, including ‘Civic Republicanism & Deliberative Democracy’, ‘The Limits of States' Jurisdictional Rights over the Internet’, ‘The Role of Intentions in the Nature of Consent’, ‘Political Institutions for Non-human Animals’, ‘Is There Anything Like Political Experts?”, and ’The Concept and Conceptions of the Rule of Law.” We were also delighted to hold two plenary sessions, delivered by Professor Helen Frowe from the University of Stockholm, who delivered a keynote presentation on morality in defence agreements, and Professor Fabienne Peter from the University of Warwick, who delivered a keynote presentation on epistemic encroachment on political normativity. We want to thank the Department of Politics and International Studies and the Department of Law for their support.
