Professor Juanita Elias Appointed Chair of the British International Studies Association
We are delighted to share that Professor Juanita Elias, Professor in International Political Economy at Warwick’s Politics and International Studies (PAIS) department, has been appointed Chair of the British International Studies Association (BISA).
In her new role, Juanita will work closely with BISA’s Director/CEO, staff, and trustees to advance the organisation’s mission. Her leadership will focus on:
- Expanding membership and engagement, including the launch of a new Post-92 group and an Undergraduate Network to support early career scholars.
- Embedding equality, diversity and inclusion across all BISA activities, building on insights from recent Academy of Social Sciences and ESRC-funded projects.
- Representing the discipline of International Studies in key national conversations, including contributing to the upcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF).
BISA is a prominent voice in International Studies both in the UK and internationally. It supports a vibrant, progressive academic community through its publications, research networks, funding opportunities, and its renowned annual conference. The association is committed to nurturing scholars at all career stages and promoting excellence in the field.
