Research Interests
-
Patterns of political communication within a hybrid media system
-
Informal systems of deliberation in global north democracies
-
Politics of automobility and the environment
-
Mixed-methods social media research involving computational approaches and digital ethnography
At present, Yuxuan’s research is focused on informal discursive spaces and the role that social media platforms play as tools of political communication in the diffusion of narrative frames about environmental policy. Her thesis examines how themes of misinformation, populist rhetoric and material justice map onto discursive networks about automobility, and their subsequent effect on civic debate and public choice.
Her research is jointly supervised by Dr Philippe Blanchard at PAIS and Dr Kavin Narasimhan from CIM.
Teaching
Yuxuan is currently a seminar tutor on the CIM module IM902: Approaches to the Digital.
