Profile
I am a Teaching Fellow in Political Theory in the Department of Politics and International Studies (PAIS). Before joining PAIS I was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh. I hold a PhD in Political Theory from the University of Hong Kong, an MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, and an MA (hons) in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh.
Research Interests
I am interested in the political theory of immigration restrictions. Questions I am especially interested in include: When might groups and communities be justified in excluding outsiders from their associations, and why?
When might the interests of outsiders limit or override justifications for exclusion? And what legitimacy can the state claim to implement immigration restrictions?
I am also interested in how much of a role the state should play in facilitating relations between immigrant populations and native groups.
Teaching
In the 2025/26 year, I will be a seminar tutor for: PO2E2 - Topics in Political Theory PO2E3 - Foundations of Political Theory PO107 - Introduction to Politics
