Year Two: Institute for European Studies, Vrije Universiteit Brussel

You will spend year two of this Double Masters Degree as a student in the 60 ECTS Advanced Master in European Integration (‘EuroMaster’) at the VUB's Institute for European Studies, a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Brussels. The EuroMaster is an interdisciplinary evening programme (classes from 6 to 9PM) allowing you to specialise in 2 EU policy areas that will be mentioned on your degree. It’s a very international programme and has a balanced classroom mix of young professionals and full-time students. The programme has a dedicated website on which you can find all practical information relating to it.

Curriculum

After the 4 mandatory courses Economics of European Integration, Policy-making and Interest Representation in the EU, History and Law of the EU, and Research Methods Lab, you will take 2 pre-selected specialisation options, to be chosen from the list of 4 below:

  1. European Economy: EU Internal Market & Competition Policy; European Monetary and Fiscal Policy
  2. Migration and Europe: Diversity Policies in the EU; European Immigration Policy
  3. European External Relations and Security Policy: European External Relations European Security and Counter-Terrorism
  4. European Environmental Governance: The Greening of the European Economy; European Climate Energy Governance

You close off the programme with a Master’s thesis.
