Introduction to Quantitative Political Analysis II

Programme overview

Welcome to "Introduction to Quantitative Political Analytics II". This module builds on PO11Q and is primarily concerned with methods of bivariate and multivariate analysis.

We start with cross-tabulations and build up slowly all the way to multivariate regression analysis, one of the most frequently used methods in social sciences. Please scroll down for the weekly topics of the module.

Programme aims:

  • Understand basic methods of bivariate analysis (two-sample t-tests and cross-tabulations)
  • Understand and apply the method of linear regression (ordinary least squares)
  • Conduct basic bivariate and multivariate analysis in R
  • Begin to critically engage with quantitative findings in political science journal articles.
