IAS Residential Fellow this Spring!

We are excited to announce that Dr Adou Djane Dit Fatogoma will be joining WICID for an IAS Residential Fellowship this spring! Dr Adou Djane Dit Fatogoma is a Sociologist, Head of the research group on Governance, Society and Economic Development (GSDE) at Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS) and Researcher at the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) of Abidjan. He is an associate expert at swisspeace. We are grateful to the IAS for this exciting opportunity.

Recent publications news

Professor Shirin Rai has published (with Jacqui True and Maria Tanyag) an article From Depletion to Regeneration: Addressing Structural and Physical Violence in Post-Conflict Economies in SOCIAL POLITICS: INTERNATIONAL STUDIES IN GENDER, STATE & SOCIETY as part of a Special Section on Post-conflict Care Economies. This work builds on The Monash-Warwick Alliance Funded Research Project INCLUSIVE ECONOMIES AND ENDURING PEACE: THE TRANSFORMATIVE ROLE OF SOCIAL REPRODUCTION 

The special section also includes an article by Victoria Pereyra and Samanthi Gunawardena titled Carceral Spaces and Social Reproduction: Exploring Export Processing Zones in Sri Lanka and Prisons in Argentina

Victoria finished her PhD in PAIS in 2017 under the supervision of Prof Shirin Rai and Prof Nick Vaughan-Williams.

The final article in the section is that by Yasmin Chilmeran and Nicola Pratt titled The Geopolitics of Social Reproduction and Depletion: The Case of Iraq and Palestine

WICID RESEARCH FUNDS

We would like to invite applications for funding. We will fund requests of up to £2000 for interdisciplinary research teams to support the preparation of external funding bids. Please note that teams must include at least one Warwick researcher. Funds won can be spent in the following ways: a workshop or other such activity bringing collaborators together in the same place; hiring a research assistant or funding bid consultant to help in the preparation and writing of the bid; any other activity directly related to the funding bid preparation and which would otherwise not be possible. In order to apply applicants must send the following:

· Up to 250 words on the consortium and collaborator bios.

· Up to 250 words on the theme and targeted funding scheme.

· Up to 250 words on the details of the activity and funds required.

· Timeframe for submission of the external funding bid.

Applications should be sent to wicid@warwick.ac.uk with the subject “WICID Research Funding Application”.

Funded Global South Fellowships

Fellowship Programme at The Centre for Law, Justice and Society (Dejusticia), Columbia

The closing of spaces for democratic participation has strengthened the need for international human rights actors to support one another’s work and amplify each one’s voice in the global arena. In solidarity with the human rights movement, Dejusticia has developed a fellowship programme to support human rights defenders of the Global South who, because of their work and advocacies, have been subjected to elevated risk from repressive actions by governments and other actors.
