In September 2016 Professor Nick Vaughan-Williams gave a keynote lecture, 'Reflections on European Border Security and the "2015 Mediterranean Migration Crisis"', sponsored by the Migration, Mobilities, and Social Politics Research Cluster, Balsillie School of International Affairs, Waterloo.

In September 2016 Professor Nick Vaughan-Williams was a Visiting Scholar at Carleton University and gave a keynote lecture, an undergraduate seminar, and an interview as part of a public outreach event in conjunction with the Mobility Politics Network and the Borders In Globalization project.

Nick Vaughan-Williams' Europe's Border Crisis (2015) is featured in a new review essay by Betty Rouland, entitled 'Borders, violence, and the oxymoron of the global village', published in Geopolitics.
