Information on Out of Hours Support

The WBS Helpdesk is responsible for providing technical support for all WBS teaching rooms during their regular opening hours.

There is no support outside of these hours unless it has been specifically arranged in advance. Please note the following:

  • Out of hours support is provided by the Helpdesk staff in additional to their full working week. These staff are not compelled to provide this support and therefore we cannot guarantee that we can fulfil every request
  • Out of hours support is charged at the regular overtime rate for the staff members. The cost is around GBP16 per hour in the evenings or on Saturdays and around GBP22 on Sundays. The exact can not be known until a particular Support Consultant volunteers to provide the cover
  • Giving plenty of notice increases the chance of a support staff member being able to provide this support
  • Sometimes, where we are not able to provide support for an entire event we may be able to provide support for the start of an event when there is the highest likelihood of assistance being needed
  • If you have a problem out of hours and you have not booked support then you are best advised to try the troubleshooting guide that is in each teaching room. If you continue to have problems you should seek out an alternate room - WBS staff cards give access to all WBS teaching rooms at all times
  • Teaching rooms are checked regularly to ensure all equipment is present and functioning. There is always the risk of an equipment failure however. Even with a Support Consultant present the quickest fix is often to change rooms
  • We are happy to give training to any WBS user on the equipment in the teaching rooms. Please contact the Helpdesk to request this.
