NOTICE FOR USERS OF REMOTE DESKTOP - DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR OFFICE COMPUTER

Remote desktop allows you to access your office computer from another location as if you were physically sat in front of it. Many users find it an excellent way to complete some tasks from home or similar. You can find more details at http://help.wbs.ac.uk/kb/internet/working_online/remote_desktop

Previously it was possible to turn on your office computer from a remote location. Unfortunately, following the important changes IT Services made to the network to provide greater stability, this functionality is no longer available. If you are a user of remote desktop please leave your office computer turned on to ensure you are able to access it. Please do turn off the monitor however to save power.

‘PHISHING’ EMAILS

Users continue to receive email which purports to be from the University, requesting that they confirm their email account details (including their password). This is a 'phishing' email and is an attempt to capture personal information. IT Services and WBS will NEVER ask you to confirm Username and Password in this way. For further information please see http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/insite/newsandevents/intnews2/phishingemailsep16
